For those that are going but haven't left yet, I just thought I'd whet your appetite for the weekend.

Awesome! But nobody has answered the million dollar question?

Should I haul any of my models up for the show? :D

I never notice the strange camo pattern on the SB2C before (probably cause the big decal threw me off  ). Did someone stumble when they were painting it???

I am guessing that the CAF would put the doors on there if they had them. I am sure that Helldiver parts are hard to find.

They are really tough to find. NASM doesn't even have a set for their own aircraft... they had to recover some from a wreck to get patterns for when they restore her. From what I understand, many ground-based Helldiver units removed the lower doors in he field, as they used to gather mud rather easily. So, it's not completely out of character.

Don't know the story about the doors.

But is that the edge of a CAF logo I see peeking out on that #8 bird just below the pilot's canopy?

Sorry... feeling giddy over here. IT's Friday, my right wing is on and at some point during the day it will be 0-beer-thirty

Nice pics, and I look forward to continuing to experience the show vicariously through you guys.

On the SB2C gear doors, surely no one really thinks that Ezell couldn't fabricate these, considering what he achieved with this plane, Lefty's P-38, etc.?

I've asked a hundred times about putting gear doors on the Helldiver...even while working at Ezell Aviation, where it can certainly be done. However, the Unit the aircraft is assigned to has no intention of ever putting them on.
