Guys
I'm looking for a N3A gunsight (made in New York by Scott, for the Commonwealth) for the P-40.
Please contact me if you have one or if you have a source I can contact.
Thanks

Item # AR-119 is an N-3A, but not a Scott.
Is there a difference between the Commonwealth and US version?

I think I have one of those. I'll have to go find it to see exactly what part number it is, but I'll be willing to sell it, no matter what.

Not sure about the difference, I'll find out and get back to you.

I have a T-1 bombsight in my collection which was made for UK, Canadian, or Australian use. The one I have which was made for UK use is marked with Air Ministry markings. Some radio components, same as US ones, intended for UK use were also marked with Air Ministry specification/approval numbers. I don't know for sure about the N-3A sights, but I haven't seen one with Air Ministry markings in my travels.

I think what you're looking for is an S-8 gunsight made by Star Machine in NY. These were basically a N-3A/N-3B but with a different finish. I've seen them with AM data plates, and others with a N-3B decal instead. I have both, but I'm not really interested in parting with them though.

I'm not sure that this will work at all for you (don't know the differences between an N-3 and an N-6), but it's what I have here.....

Guys
As usual, I knew I could count on the Wixers to come up with the goods.
I have alerted my friend ( also a Wixer) I am sure one of you will get a p.m. from him.
Thanks for all the fast reactions to the request.

Hi Gary the N6 sight you have is for a turret , the N3 sights could be used in most early US fighters and are quite common the main bodys turn up on ebay on a semi regular basis , the hard part is finding the correct sight head/glass as these were paricular to each aircraft type P38 , 39 , 40 etc they are rare to find and worth alot of money.
cheers dave
