This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I am new to posting on this website, but have enjoyed reading the posts for over 1 year now with some interesting information regarding all planes, mostly i enjoy ww2 warbirds.
I am from the uk,and went to Denver in 2007 for a flight in Bill Greenwoods spitfire mk9,and it was a dream come true,(have loads of pics before we took off)he also let me take over the controls, and do some barrel rolls, brilliant.
I used to watch the spit dogfights in the battle of britain,so theres a pointer to my age
Im just wondering as to how i dont see any posts from Bill Greenwood on the site just lately,as he did give a lot of good info regarding spits?
Perhaps i have missed some posts as to why i dont see them.
Anyway i do enjoy this site, its really good, and will continue to watch it.
Thanks.

I just want to say welcome to WIX sir.
The moderators can explain it better than I, but Bill was banned from posting here some time back.
I myself never had any problems with Bill, but I don't run the show, in fact, if there is someone that could provide me with an email address for Bill, please PM me.
Regards
Robbie

Hey royal...welcome to our little dysfunctional family we have here. Briefly, Bill did not play by the rules and was banned. There are those of us who would certainly like to see him back, but we beat that horse to death and there appears to be no chance of Bill being allowed back in
Tread lightly here...

Bill is an interesting guy, but seems to have a way about him that just breeds controversy. He was asked multiple times to stop with the argumentative and often times, politically motivated posts, but just couldn't change his ways. So he was subsequently banned from WIX. It could be argued that there are other folks who tend to start arguements and some who tend to stay political here on WIX, however, Bill just had a way about him that just somehow made many of his posts argumentative and/or political, and it would just always fester into ugliness on what is normally a pretty cool website.
Heck, it's my guess that even just the mention of him here right now will somehow turn this very thread into ugliness before it's all over with. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Yeah, I miss him too. And I wonder how the repairs on the Spit are coming along !

Thanks for the replies chaps.
Didnt know he had been banned,it seems to me,reading between the lines, that i might have opened a tin can of worms here.
We all sometimes have something to say about things in life, and get a bit worked up about them, but having said that,we should also know when to stop, especially talking on the internet,as its not going to prove anything.
There is more important things to do in life, besides trying to push your convictions onto other people,it creates a lot of hassle, not worth it.
Pity that,as he did have a lot of info regarding the spit, sounds like he made friends and enemies, but there you go.
I will leave the subject here.
Just like to say,My life has gone downhill since i went up in that spit

No matter how anyone feels about Bill Greenwood or his WIX behaviour, I'm sure many of us would like to know what's up with his Spitfire. It was a very nice airplane, and the warbird world continues to have a void where that fine ship used to fly. No matter who owns it or flies it, I'd love to see it back in the air again. Any updates on the repair efforts would be appreciated. PM me if you're shy about posting in this thread.
Cheers,

I ran into Bill up here in Canada on the w/end.
He was here for the Friendly Foes Over the Falls Airshow ( Ed Russell's).
I asked him how the Spit was and he says that the repairs have started but has no completion date. We discussed the accident but I don't think it wild be fair to quote him here.
Anyway he got a chance to fly in my buddies Fleet Finch, flying formation with me in my Fleet Finch.
All in all a fun w/end.

fleet16b,
That sounds like a fun event!
How was the turnout at the Friendly Foes Over the Falls Airshow?

Best Regards,
Aside from the ME109 issue, the show went very smoothly as usual.
Mr Russell sated to me that he thinks this year was the best turnout yet
The weather held and lots of flying before during and after each days show was done.
It is one of the best shows we do. Mr and Mrs Russell always take care of the pilots volunteers etc. They are fantastic hosts and very down to earth people.

He could'nt follow the rules set forth by the moderaters and nobody asks about Lonestars Hurricane.I WONDER WHY THAT IS?

Thanks to Tom and Bob, of the Tiger Boys, for providing the planes and Fern and Bruce for piloting the Tiger Moth and the Fleet Finch that Bill and I flew in on Saturday evening at the Russell Air Show. It was sooo much fun and the view of Niagra Falls was exciting! The airshow and the hospitality were just wonderful. Bill looked longingly at the Spitfire as it flew beautifully with their Hurricane. Ed and Fran have done a fabulous job with their collection and the airshow.

He got banned? Whoa I missed that. I thought he was pretty accessible for Spit questions etc.
