Chandler Memorial, before they were broken up!

Wed Jun 03, 2009 6:21 pm

Back in July 2000 I shot a video (16.48 min) at Chandler Memorial Airport, AZ. After transferring the clip to VHS I erased (re-used) the original digital tape, something I now regret. The only way to put it up on the www was to put my camcorder in front of my flat-screen tv an record it from there. The color turned a bit blue-ish and my computer had some hick ups, so apologies for quality. As most of the aircraft are broken up or have been moved elsewhere now, I decided to put my clip on display here:

I've put this in the Wix Hangar because I thought many of you would be interested in in how this airfield once looked. If any mod thinks it really belongs in the Base Theater, please feel free to move it there.

Tillerman.

Thank you for sharing. The airfield certainly is a lot emptier and quieter these days.

I know it has been asked before, but does anyone know the location of all the Sikorsky H-19's that were trucked away from the compound? Said to be somewhere in the Casa Grande area.

Many thanks
