Too many questions! ... where to start? ... explain the last two photos. What's the deal with the ammo? ... love the photos ... thx!

The ammo is original to the 1942 belly landing, as is all the armament. And in great preserve condition for being under 264 feet of ice for 50 years. So much so they were test fired on-site during the recovery operation.

At some point during the restoration the gun powder was removed from all the rounds and each over years was signed by significant contributors, or Veterans, etc and reinstalled into the armorment package to be flown with the aircraft. (that was the plan, whether the signed belts are actually flown with the girl I don't know for sure)

The last picture is of the gun camera. I wonder if the film was any good?

Originally when GG first arrived in the states the nose and some associated pieces were displayed in their recovered condition (as shown in the pictures) at airshows around the country to help generate funds for the restoration as well as tell the story of The Lost Squadron.

upon salvage of the cannon they cleaned it up, & as well as the ordinance, hooked it to a battery & blew the crap out of a 55 gallon fuel drum.
