Very cool! I didn't know there was one being restored out there. Looks like it's coming along very well!
Hopefully it makes it out to this side of the country after it's finished.

It's nice to see her over there now. I'm glad that it'll be full speed ahead for her restoration! I can't wait to see her flying.
Thanks for posting.
Cheers,
David

Jerry Yagen's FB26, KA114, is being restored here in NZ by AvSpecs and I believe it'll be joining the rest of his collection in the US when complete

Would be nice to see both together at some point.....
Also, when KA114's restoration is finished there's another Mossie to be rebuilt to airworthy in NZ, this time a T.III. For more info see here:

That last shot of VR796 is magic! I'm so glad this machine will fly again, great for Canada to have an airworthy Mossie at long last

Does anyone know what became of the T.III that was owned by TFC? IIRC it originally was hanging in a museum in the UK, which involved one of the wings having been sawed off for space. IWM obtained it with the plan to make it a flyer but it seems to have fallen off the radar?

I agree. I have only seen one fly once. What ever happened to the one that the CAF had?

Believe it was sold to Paul Allen, I'm not sure where it is at the moment though.

it was flown to texas and then left outside to the weather. i think Dave Talichet got it to CA but from there I don't know where it went.

I wonder where that one is now, have to check the WR

Well, the only two on there I see that mention the CAF is one that was broken up in the late 60's, and another that is the one that is now restored in the NMUSAF. The one in Dayton got there in the mid to late 80's. I seem to remember that the CAF ne was flying after that. Maybe I am mistaken.

I'm pretty sure the CAF bird and the NMUSAF bird are one and the same.

The Mossie in Dayton came over from England in the 80's directly to Dayton. I saw it fly, it stopped in Hamilton on the way to Dayton.

Looks like everyone is right about it in some way shape or form!

There were two CAF Mossies.
RS709 as has been identified was the second one - it was acquired from them by Doug Arnold, and flown back to the UK. After restoration as G-MOSI it was acquired by NMUSAF, and flown back again. Here it was modified to approximately PR XVI configuration to represent the USAAF aircraft flown from Watton.
The other was RG300, a PR34, which fell to pieces. The remians were stored at Harlingen for years, and have since been sold to Jim Dearborn, who has them stored.
