I went to a party a few months ago at a friend's house, and his wife was talking about "Uncle Ben". Her brother said something about "the General", and I started to put two and two together, her last name is Davis (and she married a guy named Davis)-- and it turns out that my friend married Gen. Davis' niece.

I know this is a really old thread but I'am looking for more information on the picture of William T Mattison. I have this picture of the same plane. My grandfather took it from a B-24 in the 450th BG, 720th BS. I would really like to get a closer detail of the nose art. It is unclear to me if the name on the plane is LITTLE*MAE, LITTLE*MAC, or something else...?

I initiated this thred 5 years ago and I was surprised to see that it was recently viewed. To answer your question Counter 25 was named Little Mac. I have other images of #25 and I would be more than happy to send you a high resolution jpeg of the nose art.

Cheers
