A-26 Invader Firebomber Info Needed

Thu Feb 17, 2005 6:29 pm

I had a very good friend who being a typical adreneline junky was looking for suitable employment after flying over 300 missions in P-38s/F-51s in WWII/Korea. He ended up being the chief pilot for Holly Fletcher's
Aero Flight in Troutdale, OR. He flew thousands of hours in TBM and SBD (A-24) sprayers and A-26 Firebombers. I'd like to try and track down the 2 A-26s. Unfortunately no one one the board could figure out the TBM.
The main A-26 he flew was Tanker 56 N86469. The other was N8026E which Fletcher bought from Richard Kreitzberg here in Salem in the late 60s. Jim said this one was a real dog but #56 was kept in perfect condition.
Attached are 3 pictures of #56 with Jim Byers flying.

Unfortunately N86469 crashed in Arizona in May 71 while on a tanker mission. N8026E is today the Planes of Fame A-26 "Ginny Sue" later "A haulin". Cool photos by the way
