Somewhere in that thread somebody mentioned 80 hp Hirth engines. I have an A&P buddy here in town who has always wanted to build a scaled down Lancaster with 4 Rotax engines. I'll have to show him this "little" project!

I knew it was only a matter of time!

Next you'll see B-25s, B-24s, B-26s, B-29s, He-111, Ju-88s, Bettys, Lancaster's, Wellington's....

Finally! 40 + years after the late, outrageously crazy Stan Mott proposed the idea in AIR PROGRESS-Stan planned his around 4 VW's

What are the total horsepower maximums for the Sport Flyer Class? 150?Seems as long as you don't bust the horsepower or top speed limits, you could build a teeny teeny B-36 if you wanted to-do I hear wheels turning?

1/4 scale would give you a 36" diameter fuselage. 57-foot wingspan, 40 feet long. Not sure you could go much smaller and still be able to sit in it.
It WOULD be cool, though!

looks like a 'fun' crowd around that tiny B-17.

Lots of beer drinking, beer bellies and automatic weapons.., YEEHAWWWWW!!

Could have an entire 1/4 scale air force!

sure does cut back on the fuel!

this faalls in to the ...

too MUCH FREE TIME and TOO MUCH MONEY category for me. I can only dream of having that kind of time on my hands!

Hard not to be impressed by all the work that has gone into that. What about a quarter scale B-36? Wouldn't that be about the size of a real B-17?

:)

About half the size. Real '36 is 230' wingspan. 1/4 scale would give you a 36" diameter fuselage. 57-foot wingspan, 40 feet long.

Just awsome. Ive got a 16ft wingspan Lancaster RC model here. Its flying days are past but apharently they had to get permision to fly it due to its size.
