I have just completed another update of my web-site, this time adding 87 pictures of the aircraft at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, with among them, pictures of our beloved Ol-927 while she was in maintenance !

Where do they keep their Harpoon?

The Harpoon and several other aircraft are located at yet another hangar that is not open to the public. As of two weeks ago, the harpoon had not been reassembled.

This hangar has all sorts of neat treasures! The folks at Cavanaugh allowed us to use it for our B-24 ground school.

:?:
Huh, not sayin' there isn't one stashed there, but it would be news to me.

:?: They have one?

There are more planes, they just don't have the room to display them all. But I don't think they have those two. I want to know where the P-51 and F-86 are. Haven't seen them there in years.

The Links trainer is in Hanger 1, unless they moved it in the last week. And it doesn't look like it.

The first picture of the Corsair is the CAF's from Lancaster. And I believe that both Cavanaugh's and the CAF's are Goodyear built FG's.

I was thinking of palm Springs Air Museum, sorry

The Cavanaugh Harpoon is the former CAF Wisconsin Wing bird.

PV-2D N86493 serial number 15-1604

If you look elsewhere on WIX I do remember a discussion occurring when it was sold to the folks at CFM

The P-51 is at Ezell's. When I saw it the wings were off and the engine was out. Maintance I think.

How many are flyers vs static?

Most fly, or are capable of flight. Though I was told once that the Panther's flying days were probably over.

The static ones at the museum:
MiG-17
MiG-21
F-4
F-104
F-105
UH-1
UH-34
The M-4 doesn't fly, but it taxis pretty well.

Some more pictures, some of which were not there when Michel went by and some visitors as well.

Here is their link, with descriptions of the aircraft:

Thanks for the information on the Harpoon. I think I even saw it once at the other hanger and just didn't recognize it. That explains why I haven't seen the Mustang in a while. What about the Saber though?

I have also heard that the B25 will not be flown due to its historical signficance - anyone have any better intel on whether that is true?

I have not seen any B-17 on-site during my visit.

The first Corsair is documented as I show in the museum's book.

The second one is a different one, and I honestly took a chance in it's description, figuring someone here would straighten me up !

I forgot to thank Chris for he graciously spent some time with me while I was on-site, and specially for the 20 some minutes we spent in Ol'927 talking about her and other warbirds.

This was one memorable visit for me, thanks !!!

No worries, books sometimes throw me off too.

The Cavanaugh plane also has F4U-1C on the tail. The description on the board in front of the plane calls it both an FG-1D and an FG-1C. From what I can tell, it is an FG-1D with FG-1C armament. I don't have a clear photograph with the registration number, but the tail code is: Navy 92399.

Sometimes, the board desribing the plane, gets placed by the CAF corsair.

You can see the CAF emblem on the Corsair in your first picture. It is an FG-1D based in Lancaster TX, but being worked on at CFM. Registration # N9964Z.

The second picture is Cavanaugh's plane.

Was I confusing enough for you?
