Cargo hauler airshow - coming anytime soon?

Anyone anywhere in world ever staged a pure Cargo plane airshow or flyin?

With still many prop cargo working hauls - there would be enough in US anyway to do a few airshows or fly in to attract crowds to a new kind of airshow theme.

Since most of the planes are ex US military or hand me downs.. there is still a strong connection for a tie in at airshows.

What do others think? I personelly think a few big 2 and 4 engined planes at a show formation or flying would do wonders for some local economies.

Personally, I would LOVE to see a show like that. Big piston engined cargo planes whether warbirds or strictly former civil types are among my favorites.

But I have doubts of convincing anyone that this type of show would "do wonders" for a local economy.

Somebody organize it and we wil be there with the C-47! We can probably do wonders to the local bar economy.

That's nothing new. During WW2 the greatest all around Allied commander. William "Uncle Bill" Slim had his forces make cheap parachutes out of jute fiber when there was shortage of silk and synthetic parachutes. They were called parajutes and used for the same purpose of delivering supplies to troops in the field.

If there is one place on earth where this can be done, it's the US. Remember that you have the oppurtunity to do so, as nowhere else you can find such a fine collection of still airworthy piston-engined aircraft like the DC-3, DC-4, DC-6, DC-7, C-46, C-119, the Save-a-Connie Connie, C-97 etc.

The only problem would be to get them all ready for flight at the same time.
I would take my hat off to the organizer of an airshow with those old freighters and pax planes, and if I had the oppurtunity (and money!) to attend, oh man, I would be happy!
With the right publicity it would attract an audience from all over the world, I'm sure.

We participated in a transport type airshow at Kansas City Downtown airport in 1998. C-54, the Connie, Gene Powers' C-82, C-47's and a few others, including a Convair if I remember correctly.

You could get close by hanging out @ Memphis or Loserville in the evenings.
You could go up to Ypsillani, MI. just be sure none of THOSE aircraft fly directly over you, they have things fall off at inconvenient times-
