Just announced in the latest Planes of Fame newsletter is that Steve Hinton will be doing acro in an F7F during the airshow in May. Never seen that before! About the closest would be Lefty Gardener in his P-38.

I saw Gary Fanders fly his with the green/white cowls a few times. Very cool!!

The T-cat is an amazing machine! I used to love watching John Ellis throw the Kalamazoo Air Zoo's (former) F7F around the sky.

It's a very impressive machine. For years they used to aerobat one at Flying Legends. Firstly the Plane Sailing one, then in later years TFC's example - 4-ship formation aerobatics with FM-2/F6F/F7F/F8F. Now that really was a sight (and sound)!

Looking forward to seeing Steve H's display at Chino in May.

Anyone remember a li'l ol' acro routine that some guy named Bob used to do in a Shrike Commander, first with two engines running, then with one running, then with both of 'em shut down?

Mike is right, it is indeed very impressive, and one of the TFC fleet that I miss the most!

Pete Kynsey's solo routine on the Sunday at FL2005 was stunning (the Bearcat had gone U/S, so there where no tailchase aero's which was the norm and can be seen in Doug's photo), and really showed how this machine could perform.

I think you can see why Pete Kynsey described it as "Two Bearcats strapped together".

I remember Jimmy Franklin in his twin engine whatever it was....very impressive at Aspen, missed the radar mast on a nearby hill by about 10 feet...

Not Bob Who....Bob Hoover!

Saw his "energy management routine" in the Commander once at Skyrace in Tasmania Australia circa '95 - a very impressive piece of flying! I remember him saying at the time "i'm only eighty three years young.."

At that time the FAA had withdrawn his license. He came Australia the week before the airshow, studied, sat the exams and got his CPL!

If it's anything close to the aerobatic demo John Ellis used to do in the Air Zoo Tigercat, you're in for a treat. Being able to see a twin-engine aircraft of that sizedo aerobatics is spectacular.

That was an Aerostar 600. He flew as "Zar". One of my favorite childhood memories.

You can't forget the great job Matt Younkin is doing remembering his dad, Bobby, by flying his Twin Beech show.

I remember seeing "Zar" at a couple of shows in Colorado back in the '80s. I couldn't remember the pilot's name though..he also flew a acro routine in a Beech 18 back in the early 90s. Saw that on in Elkhart..quite a sight!

<edit> Seems I got my wires crossed..Franklin was "Zar" and Younkin flew the acro in the Twin Beech. Somewhere I'd heard it was the same person.
