Hi
Visited there couple of years ago, at Republic on the general aviation ramp there were three T6s of some display team and nearby an old huey. Also check out back of the American Airpower museum as there was an SNJ in US Navy markings stored outside. Anyone know its serial number. Also a H34 is stored on the airfield, painted white!
At the Cradle of Aviation there is a storage yard which you want to check out and there was a restoration area that at that time was only viewable from the steps by the B.707 nose. Also bit dark in the main museum but a lovely collection.
Floyd Bennett Field is also well worth a visit
Have fun

mustangdriver - if you go to the American Airpower Museum, please shoot a picture or two of RF-84F s/n 53-7595 for me. It used to be close to me here in Texas at the Pate Museum and I'm curious to see if she's been given some TLC (she sure needed some) and to see what she looks like now.
Thanks and have a safe and fun trip! Be sure to tell us about it when you get back.

Chris,
The big weekend at the American Airpower Museum is Memorial Day when the aircraft are all using Republic for the Jones Beach Airshow. I live only about 6 miles away, and it's one of the few times of the year that I get to see their collection in the air. A plus is that I've heard that the Three Horsemen will be there this year. Bob and Chris Baranascas usually take part in the Jones Beach show as well. The T-6s referred to earlier belong to the Geico Skytypers....they put on a pretty good formation routine at Jones Beach.
Let me know when you are going, I'll meet you there.
I doubt that the F-84 is getting much TLC. It's always on outdoor display when I drive by. The last time I was there, the PBY had it's wings off and was undergoing major work.
