This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I hate to point out typos, but on their website I think it is supposed to be:
Manfred Radius, and not Manford Radius.
Maybe if anyone's in the know, they can pass that on.
Cheers.

Well...We'll be there but, so far, 3 too many "aerobatic" acts.
I guess we could just wander around while all that's going on.

Ah, Mudge...I do like it when people quote me...

I think it's OK for any given airshow to have as many as
two aerobats, as long as they're sharply different from each other: eg. Sean Tucker in his Challenger Pitts or whichever modern competition machine he's flying, and Jon Mohr in his stock 220 Stearman. Completely different styles. And Oscar Boesch, when he was still flying, was always an exception to that as far as I was concerned, both for the unique nature of his routine and (especially in a Gennie context) the historical narration that accompanied it...
Dave's right BTW, it's Man
fred Radius...hopefully he doesn't see that typo and get irritated by it!
See everybody at Gennie, I hope...

Ya know Mudge, now that you say it, it is kind of wierd that there's aerobatic performers. I just never pictured anything beyond warbirds at that show.
Has there been such acts like that at Geneseo before? Seems kinda out of place if you ask me. But I suppose it helps attract a wider demographic.

David--
There's usually at least one aerobatic act at Gennie, and more often than not also a flyover demo of a modern military type (often a NY ANG Herc, since one of the Wadsworth family flies those). Until he retired about three years ago, Oscar Boesch, sailplane maestro and former Fw190 pilot, was also a fixture at Gennie; his routine was aerobatic, yes, but I wouldn't consider Oscar "one of the aerobats" along with the Pitts/Extras/Eagles etc.
Sadly of course this year not only will we not see Oscar, we have lost his good friend, Spitfire-flying wartime adversary, and colour commentator extraordinaire, Charley Fox...killed last fall in an auto wreck. I understand there's to be some kind of tribute to Charley at Geneseo.

Think of those acts as washroom breaks. The show does run from 10am until 4pm.

Various flights before and after the official show usually keep things interesting......photo missions, warbird rides, etc. As long as there is some light and it isn't raining, there are usually some intermittent flights.

Mudge,
Come to the Cornfield, meet Rob Holland and you will understand why he is there.
He will be having just as much of a good time as the rest of us.
From flying his act to jumping in the photo planes he is always busy.
He is also the ASB Person of the Year!
I was hoping to see Carol on the list too, that would add a fourth act.
A little over 4 months away, and there are a couple of big boats on the list!

Not to stray off course but at Thunder during the B-25 gathering the Saturday morning pilot briefing rolled around to Sean Tucker and his time slot. He stood up and said "guys, I have no idea why I am here"...it was really funny cause somebody either let him fly a B-25 or ride along, when Sundays briefing took place he stood up and said "guys, I KNOW why you are here now!". Flip Flop acts have thier place at warbird shows...lets face it, it adds to the draw for the more generic airshow crowd which in the long run helps pay the bills. That said...I hope to be there this year! Haven't seen a show there since '93.

Aerobatic acts are not a new thing for Geneseo, the show has not been a strictly warbird show since the Wings of Eagles. For the last several years they've had Rob Holland perform, a glider act, flying farmer, and usually one other performer. You'll also see some vintage aircraft there as well such as Wacos, Staggerwings, and plenty of other taildraggers.

He went for a ride on Saturday Night in LSFM's Special Delivery to film a segment for a show he was doing for hte Outdoor Channel (I think). I have to say he was a really good down to earth guy (as are most folks that are tops in there field because they don't have to put on an act). Never saw the segment on TV but it seemed that he really enjoyed himself.

I’m sure with Rob there Carol can’t be far behind.
Here is a photo of Carol and Rob at Geneseo last year.

No fear! I'm brewing up a storm so I'll have plenty of stock for the show.
I'm looking forward to getting together with everyone again. Man, I feel like I've dropped off the planet for the last few months. I've had a ton of things going on and my WIX fix seems to be suffering.
