Another short lived bomber, Convair XB-46

Following completion of trials, the XB-46 was flown to Eglin Field in Florida in July of 1950 where a series of low temperature tests on the aircraft's pneumatic system were carried out in the base's climatic hangar. Following the completion of the climatic tests, the Air Force had no further need for the XB-46. The nose section was sent to the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio in early 1952. The remainder of the airframe was scrapped in February of 1952.

Begs the question, where is at today, storage?

An entrant in the jet medium bomber up against the XB-48 and some goofy looking 6 engined swept wing idea from Boeing. We discussed the XB-46 several months ago, the forward fuselage was kept for a while but it was, I believe, eventually scrapped. It was really slow with those straight wings and tuna boat engine pods, as was the XB-48 with it's straight wings and 3 podded engines per side

Kinda reminds me of a B-45 on steroids.

I have never seen any signs of that nose anywhere.
