Florida Tour Finis!

Mon Feb 09, 2009 8:12 am

Time flies...the Florida Tour is done. Took the opportunity to go back in the tail of 909. This is the only spot I haven't been in during flight...I gotta say its real lonely back there. The National starts in about 10 days...

Awesome pictures man. Could you imagine being back there for a whole mission?

Mon Feb 09, 2009 9:19 am

Again Jim excellent pictures. Do you have anymore in the tail? :supz:

Love those reversed left right drift labels on the back glass, just a subtle reminder that the tailgunner is a bit "backwards"!

Glad to see that y'all are coming back to Tyler, TX again this year. I really enjoyed my flight in Witchcraft last year and am looking forward to a flight in 909 this year.

Where is that tail pic shot at/over? Is that Vero Beach/Indian River?

Mon Feb 09, 2009 1:28 pm

Nice pics.

Are ya'll the one's who spread the ashes over the weekend? Nice tribute. I saw it on the news.

Mon Feb 09, 2009 2:46 pm

How minor was the minor mishap this weekend?

Mon Feb 09, 2009 9:17 pm

So, driving down A1A south of Cape Canaveral yesterday afternoon about 4pm.
See this 4 engine aircraft and figure it's a C-130 out of Patrick AFB.
Then recognized it for what it was. Always very cool to see :D

thanks for the piece of tail  great pics & perspective of view from that gun station!!

Thanks guys...I shot alot of video as well...I couldn't imagine being back there for an entire mission. The field of fire is not that great and there isn't much protection. I'll post more when I get home.

IIRC, B17 tail guuners had a higher casualty rate than ball turret and waist gunners.
