still having avatar problems

Yeah I'm computer stupid but right now I'm about to put my fist into it in frustration. You guys have helped me before. I'm trying real hard to post an avatar photo. I cant' find a place in photobucket to resize to avatar size nor can I find the place with those words. I keep getting sent to a blank white page with photobucket logo up in the corner. I just keep going round in circles going nowhere.
It's gotta be something obvious that's right in front of me that i'm missing because I'm getting more and more frustrated.
What am I missing or doing wrongl?
All help will be greatly appreciated.

Doug, try resizing it as a normal photo in your Documents file on the computer, then import the resized photo to Photobucket, then add the new avatar. This has worked for me.
