The most bizarre air missions of WW2

Fri Feb 06, 2009 12:16 am

You historians or others who may know some cool stuff .... list some of WW2's most bizarre or unknown missions that most would never know about. Examples: What, if any, allied jet missions were carried out DURING the war? I know of a few very rare RAF missions. I'm talking actual missions, not some training flight during the war. What aircraft that we would never have thought participated in the war actually did participate? Did the bearcat have at least one mission? Did the P-80? Did any German aircraft tangle with aircraft in the PTO? Did any Japanese aircraft tangle with anyone in the ETO? Did allies ever tangle with allies? .. such as Russian aircraft tangling with western allies?

And can anyone nail down for sure if Tigercats flew, or didn't fly, operational missions towards the end of WW2?
