P-51B/C CONTACTOR • ACCEPTING OFFERS • I have a Contactor instrument for the P-51B/C Mustang and I would like to make a financial deal with someone who is interested in acquiring this instrument. Excellent condition but I have not checked it. The deal is this. These instruments are very hard to find and they are expensive. What I want to do is find someone who will fund me enough money to repair my somewhat rundown FEMA house in exchange for this Contactor, but I want that person to fund my repair efforts in a manner that can be deducted from his income taxes. If you are interested please contact me. Thank you, Tom
And then maybe someone can explain to me his business proposition...?

I saw this on Barnstormers today and have been thinking about it ever since. If you take it at face value this is someone in need.
Not sure about the contactor.

Yeah, sounds like he's asking someone else to violate some accounting principles all right. But what's a contactor?

The Contactor Units were the first IFF (identification friend or foe) manufactured after the outbreak of WWII and were installed exclusively in fighter aircraft. They use a precision 11-jewel balance platform which controls a precision timing device that connects into the radio of the aircraft. When engaged, the contactor would "key" the radio of the aircraft for a precise period of time that would identify them as "friendly" to ground stations.
BC-608 is the nomenclature, snagged this picture from an E"place" auction from about a year ago. This beautiful example went for 62 bucks, so I hope the guy only needs like a FEMA mailbox or something.

By the way, for the Spitfire fans, click link below and scroll down about 1/3 for a Brit contactor unit for only 120 Pounds.
