P-40N @ Schellville flies - inc updates

Sat Jan 24, 2009 8:45 pm

At about 4PM this afternoon, Chris Prevost took his 8 year project aloft for the first time. It had recently been inspected and workmanship & documentation were judged exceptional.
Flying chase in the SNJ were Tom Morris & Denny Jones. The flight was pretty uneventful except for the pair of rolls over the airport. Fellow WIXers Roger Cain & Taigh Ramey were there also...I expect Roger to follow this with some of his photos.
A historic wonderful day. Everyone at the airport was happy for Chris, he earned it.

Mod Ed: Just thought I'd update the thread title, and I keep thinking there's loads of new P-40s at Schellville! JDK

Excellent news! I hope it keeps the very plain OD scheme!

I'm looking forward to the day when I can see it flying at an airshow.

I juggled two cameras while it was up, and I don't like doing this, but sometimes you get away with it and the efforts of one do not detract from the other. I did get video & now am on the hunt for someone locally to convert this to DVD.

Sky was crud, but the flying was excellent, looking forward to some sun in the future. Chris did a remarkable job of getting this plane into the air again.
