Okay...I am stumppped...
The yellow serial number is a "known" for a color.
The green camouflage is a "known" for a color.
The black "C" is yet another "known" for a color.
I can further guess the colors of the crewman's uniform parts.
What is the best color suggestion of the background behind the "C"???
TIA,
David

My best guess would be red, but I will have to dig into that and see if I can back that up with actual intel.

For an OD B-17 it
should be a black or insignia blue "C", denoting the 96th Bomb Group, on a white square, denoting the Group was in the 3rd Air Division, 8AF.
There is the possibility that they used a grey instead of white for the square in this instance.
All the best,
PB
