Two strange things happened today ....

The other was very strange indeed. I walked from my office to a borders bookstore down the street. I went directly to the my usual magazine hangout section ( no not that one because I didn't wear my trenchcoat and sunglasses  ) the airplane section. While I was flipping through "Aeroplane" magazine, I happened to be looking at a photo of a 109 in all it's NAZI glory. Big swastika and everything. Well two older women were standing next to me looking at who knows what and one happened to ask me if i could reach up and grab a magazine she wanted. I said sure. This woman happened to see what I was looking at and noticed the swastika. She abruptly stopped me and said something on the lines of "you should be ashamed of yourself" I said "what?" and looked to see if my fly was open or something. She stated she had some jewish friends and that she was extremely offended by the magazine I was looking at. The two of them just walked away. Needless to say I felt like I was a puppy killer for a minute, but luckily once I started to walk back to the office and got to flip off a few crazy LA drivers, who I'm sure were trying to run me over, I felt my old self again.

Question: Who has had incidents with our nutty obsession with people who just don't get it like we do? Anyone wear a T-shirt with a swastika on it? or a bomber dropping bombs on it? Or anything else that only us sick warbird lovers understand? I know we talked about a credit card company declining a picture request once.

Didn't the CAF JU-52 get booted off it's home airport or prospective new one over it's paint scheme???

thats a hard one to have a comeback for!!

I was once in a Barnes & Noble and had a very very unwashed urban outdoorsman educate me on B-17s. He was actually fairly knowledgeable though, just needed a bath.

I knew a person once who took a bath....

but taking a bath is only soaking in a tepid pool of your own filth

I plan on takin' a bath come Saturday. Well,...a shower anyways. I'm gonna use soap this time, too ! :D

Remember the Miller Time beer commercials from about 30 years ago? For you youngsters they key visual image was working stiffs finishing up work, and the money line...."It's Miller time."
An acquaintance was a SAC pilot (remember SAC?) told me of his sqn. making up Miller time T shirts with a Buff flying at you with a mushroom cloud in the background. Their CO was NOT impressed and he ordered all T shirts rounded up and destroyed.

I remember a T6 at a Santa Maria CA airshow several years ago that had to tape up and hide the swastika on it's tail because there was a boyscout troup that was hanging out at the show. ????

That was the rumor

this also brings to mine another incident up in PDX with the police.
A suject died from a misapplied choke hold. A week later a couple
of the city's finest were selling "Don't smoke'em-Choke'em TShirts :?
Needless to say they shortly were headed towards a different career path :!:

One day I will find the t-shirt my friend told me about that he had seen at a Motorcycle rally in NH in 97.

Pic of a mushroom cloud
"Atomic Bomb...............tested twice worked both times"

I have the classic t-shirt of a XM-134 mini gun.
"GE.............we bring good things to life"

A friend was once looking at my model display case in my apartment, and she was a little shocked that a couple were Luftwaffe bombers. I explained that it was a historical interest, and not in any way an endorsement of the Nazi cause.
