HEADS UP WARNING about watching on line videos-

Wed Jan 14, 2009 2:06 pm

My computer just got over being infested by a MALWARE issue (I see now what Jack Cook was going thru earlier) for about 3 weeks.
It apparently piggybacked into my magic box via a YOU TUBE video (and 99.99% that I watch come from WIX).
It listed itself as 'ANTIVIRUS 360 and purported to be a MICROSOFT anti spyware app but tried to sell me 'repair discs' and the wording was odd, TROJAN was TROYAN and the text reads like Eastern European translations of British English so I knew it didn't come from Redmond, WA.
Everyone might want to look @ stepping up your anti spyware protection, I didn't lose anything but some could be in serious trouble, MICROSOFT dowloaded a couple of fixes last night after I signed off and it's gone now. :crispy:

I had the same problem and was barely running for 3 weeks also. I was downloading updates daily from Norton, and a couple of free malware programs but nothing helped.

I ended up buying the Spyware Doctor program, which solved all of the issues.

I found out about it from watching the youtube video on how to remove the virtumundo problem.

Gotta wonder if they are all in cahoots with each other.

Thanks God my PC is hacked edition so it is by default closed for many port. So hard that anything can happen. Better to say today something was arrived in zip but when I have unpack it this was killed at once by anti virus.

Advice- everyday update your protection, don't go on Internet without firewal, don't opet everything and so on. Special note- if you get email that some bank ask you to change password on your account- do not do that. Bank never send email like this.

Cheers :)

A good freeware malware scanner is at http://malwarebytes.org/ - they also have paid versions with more features but the free one will do manual scans and removals.

I guess I'm lucky, as I've never had a virus ruin my computer ever in the 25 or so years that I've had them. I have had 2 viruses that "attempted" to overtake my computer, but they were quickly isolated and erradicated by my virus protection software.

When it comes to the internet, always use protection - it's very important! :)
