Very/Verey (flare) Pistol & Cartridges

Mon Jan 12, 2009 12:11 pm

Anyone know a source for this stuff? The cartridges are about 1-1/4" to 1-1/2 I think.

Fits T6/SNJ/Harvard.

Thanks,

bdk

Well, that was easy! Anyone have a source for the original flares?

P.S. I found an M-8 flare gun for $75.

I have an M-8 in about the same condition plus 4 WWII flares. I've always wanted to try to fire one of them, but It makes me a little nervous firing something so old. :)

I guess you could always roll your own...

About the worst that could happen is that the flares fizzle. If they won't blow up with fresh powder, they can't blow up now.

Might give these folks a try. Ad says 40mm, but if they're 50's and 60's cartridges, they should be 37mm,,,

Does anyone know where the GFE pistol mount (kind you see on port side of a Mustang) can be obtained please?

Just have a local gunsmith give it a once over. I fire old guns all the time. This is yesterdays selection:
2x 1943 Mosins
1918 Mk1 #III Enfield
Santa Fe Mountaineer (Sporterized Enfield)
& my 11yo daughters Savage MkII .22 (new)

Both the of the Enfields are tack drivers...

Later today I'm taking out my other 2 Mosins & a 1918 Swedish Mauser :)

Good idea to have it checked over. If it needs any parts, Numrich Gun Parts has some - e-GunParts.com

Also, for Mark V, there was an M8 complete with mount listed in GunsAmerica. Bit pricey, and the listing was removed. Seller can be contacted at: AAAandA@aol.com.

I guess I'm not scared of the gun as much as the 65 year old flare.
