Sat Dec 20, 2008 12:43 pm

No need to get nasty, just stating the facts.

Thanks, Al.

No desire to be nasty. How does the FAA typically react to OWI offenses?

Sat Dec 20, 2008 12:53 pm

Why even bring this up again? ... who really cares anyway, she supposedly did something wrong, she's now supposedly paying for it. Great pilot's make mistakes too, I should know, ... wait!!! did that sound like I'm a great pilot or just someone who makes mistakes????? ...

Move on from this mess, nothing warbird about this news ... IS there???

There is a line in the story that says an alcohol test is mandatory only on the 2nd offense. So in the plea bargain this was dropped, and there is no proof now of what blood alcohol level she had.

I wonder what will happen to her pilots license? If she gets a suspension, perhaps it will still allow her to fly again next season. It's good that the case in OSH is resolved. And I'll bet she gets a designated driver. When I go out the other guys always want me to be the dry one. She has a very high pressure and high profile job, like being a sports star. But if Tiger Woods or Federer mess up, they only crash as a figure of speech. There has to be some time to relax in her position.

The story talks of her being impolite to the cops/sherriffs. But we get only the official side, we don't know what attitude and behavior of the cops were toward her. When people drink they frequently lose judgment, but there are a zillion proven incidents of some thughish cop behavior like the recent one where they shot a man with a Tazor who was only sitting in his truck in a diabetic coma.

Hellcat , I for one care and I think a lot of other's do also. Like old fish, stories that are hidden start to smell. And this happened at Osh and in the warbird section so even by that it is relevant.

I can only hope that she never drinks and drives again and
can live up to the expectations of the young people who admire her so

Good, care all you want, you're intitled, just care somewhere else other than here in the WIX Hanger. (unless the rules have been changed here on WIX ... that I must have NOT got the latest news letter ... there's a better place for you to discuss drunk driving, or supposed drunk driving) I have zero sympathy for her. If she drove drunk and mouthed off to cops, take her punishment and shut up. I have way too many people I know who have lost family and friends to drunk drivers. Lost my mother as well. So too bad for her if she was found guilty.

So there you go .... You didn't want "HEAT" with this thread, then why even post it here. Again, just read your moderator's instructions again and you'll maybe figure out where this thread should go. So care for her all you want. I certainly don't. And my mother (rest in peace) certainly doesn't either ....

Wish my mother could take one breathe again ....

... I'm fine Jack, remember ... I'm reformed and full of love and happiness these days .... I'm sitting in my office thinking about butterflys and puppies now .... ahhhhh!!!!!! ... much better now ....

I think I'm going to go out and find a pick-up hockey game here in LA ... 8)

And Jack the day you become my "anger management" therapist is the day I know the worlds coming to an end .....  8)

Hellcat, if it makes you feel better my uncle was lost that way.
Drinking and driving is a big problem in our society, especially since much of our advertising and social behaivor is focused around alcohol.
But sweeping any discussion of it under the rug is not the way to deal with the problem. I think the rest of us have kept the discussion polite, if it is too upsetting to you why not skip reading it?
And this is warbird related. It happened at EAA a big warbird show, in and to the warbird folks, and by/to a member that flies warbirds also.

Warbird relevance: Patty is the 'generally considered' the #1 current, contemporary warbird pilot in USA.....flies P-51s, T-28s and Texan II at Paris airshow, etc. etc. (per Linda Richman: Go and discuss amoungst yourselves)

It's far from too upsetting for me. I'm not mad at anyone here, just explain to me why this thread needs to be here in the WIX hanger? ... To me it doesn't seem to be about warbird's or relevant warbird pilots as much as it seems to be about people who drink and drive. Tell me I'm wrong ... what does her drinking and driving mistake have to do with warbirds? is it because you all want to know what happens to your pilot's license when you f*ck up and drink and drive? ... H*ll, I can google you what you need to know in 30 seconds. My problem is NOT with anyone or anything here, my problem is this person doesn't deserve the discussion and attention HERE IN THE WIX HANGER ... period!!!! ... go talk about it where it belongs in another area here on WIX. That way you can justify whether she and warbirds and drunk driving all matter in some strange way all you want. She made a big mistake and she needs to deal with it by the rules of the law. Drunk driving has nothing to do with warbirds ... If she was flying a warbird drunk ... maybe .... I don't hate the woman, the hate the decision the woman made ....

It's certainly unfortunate this thread doesn't have a title so people know what it's gonna be about.

Seriously though, Hellcat, i'm sorry for the loss of your mother.

I have had a hard time with this incident as i've been a Patty fan since I was a kid and I lost alot of respect for her this past summer. I've known alot about this incident as I volunteer for Warbird Security and I personally know the two men who initially stopped her when she entered the Warbird area. I may tell more of what I know but what's done is done.

I think it is relevant to post here as many people seem to be interested in the story and as Vlado has pointed out, she is a Warbird pilot.

No disrespect CAT, and thx about mom, ... but who cares if this woman is a warbird pilot!!! ... that's got nothing to do with anything that relates to "drunk driving" .... I would probably NOT be so heated if the woman would have shown better judgement even after she was pulled over. She can be the best warbird pilot out there and she can even own ALL the warbirds on the planet, I could care less about her royalty in the warbird world ... she's a drunk driver .... how would all of you feel today if she would have ran into one of your beloved warbirds drunk? or worse, ran one of your warbird pilots over and killed them .... And I read the title a few times before posting. I knew what I was getting into, maybe you should have knew what you were getting into as well, but that's just me, you posted it, I guess you live with it too.

Hellcat, if it makes you feel better my uncle was lost that way.

Why would the loss of your uncle make me feel better? ... Nothing would make me feel better .... are you kidding me?

I think it is relevant to post here as many people seem to be interested in the story and as Vlado has pointed out, she is a Warbird pilot.

So that makes it OK? .... WTF? :?: :?: ... don't worry, I get your point ...

You guys lose someone very close to you by stupidity on someone's part and you sit around for years saying how "unfair" it was to lose someone that way and you'll change you attitude as well. You can bet on that.

I'll say it again for you, .... I don't hate the woman, I hate the decision the woman made .... people DIE by those type of decisions .... I can only hope she soon truly understands her bad decision and maybe she might think twice the next time. Hopefully she already has .... It would be a shame to lose her, and if she doesn't see the light and change, she just may make the same mistake again ... only with far worse results ... hopefully she'll see and read this thread. (probably not) but she needs to see just how angry people can get by drunk driving ....

Enough!!!! ... I got it out, I've said my piece, now the rest is up to you guys to discuss. Just don't even think about bashing me .... I wasn't the drunk driver .... have a nice day
