Moderators out of control

YOU Moderators NEED TO START CHILLING OUT IN LOCKING OUR POST'S!!!

Tue Dec 09, 2008 6:54 pm

I locked two posts - in both cases to halt a duplicated thread, and on one was thanked by the thread starter for doing so.

I don't know which Mod locked the P-40 thread, but I would have done as well - the rule remains attack the argument, not the person. Scott's rule is 'Personal attacks will not be tolerated'.

If Scott feels it's OK to reopen the thread, it's up to him.

Regards,

I think it's ok to get somewhat personal, but some of us "old timers" around here have noticed an increasing tendency for things to go over the line... Things have been said on here over the last year that would never (hopefully) be said to someone's face.

Fully in support of the mods.

I'm very much in support of the moderators too -- and a couple of posts here illustrate why. Seems to me the mods have been dealing with things quite nicely for a while now.

There are almost too many worthwhile posts here each day to keep up with adequately already (especially if I want to keep my marriage intact). I do not like having to wade through a bunch of personal attacks and nasty exchanges all the time.

Other than those James mentioned, what's been locked or deleted lately?

Personal, go to Myspace, Facebook, etc. Folks this is a grown up land for people who love warbirds and the related topics. Politics, religion, sexiphones, etc. have other outlets. If you can't stay on topic, WTF are you doing in an airplane #1, take the discussion somewhere the participants care. "Here's a quarter, call someone who cares."

Sorry, old country song lyric.

Come on kids, can't we all just stay on task and get along? :?

Yeah, I'm married to a therapist but geez, this forum shouldn't need her input.

In a few selected posts (maybe 25%). I've seen a bit of a tendancy for this board to be a little heavy on gossip (like the Yeager post), and a little lacking on substance. Those sort of discussions have a negative aspect.

i've noticed alot of the newbies (those with 100 posts or less) are making valid points, i think that their fresh perspective should be taken into account. this or any forum is not a place for personal pissing contests.

the know it all passing matches get old fast, as does an incessant need to inject politics into any thread. That being said, why not delete the offending posts and suspend the poster 3 days? should clear things up quickly, if a few repeat offenders move on, so be it.

but what do i know? i'm just a scruffy spray pilot after all

The moderators are ever vigilant against any ideas deeper than what kind of gun we own. Sure keeps from upsetting those who have made up their minds, such as they are, on an issue and don't want to read any other opinion especially one containing facts that don't fit the party line.

There is at least one other way it could be done. When I go into the Chinese restruant there are * next to the items that are spicy hot and I avoid them. We could ask those who post anything on WIX that is not pro gun, pro war,pro Nascar, anti tax, anti govt, etc. to mark their post in such a way that would warn many of the WIX folks not to read it.
Such a mark could be a big L or a picture of Katie Couric or maybe the number 110 with a bar above it sort of like they mark turbulence with the altitude. That way a reader could know in advance and avoid seeing any idea they might be upset by.

No Offense to you Kenlyco, or to anyone else that is a member of this wonderful website, "but", the owner/operator/provider, can pull the plug on this wonderful website and have operating hours that meets their time requiremets, say 8pm to 10pm.
If any one of the trusted moderators opt to lock up a topic because it is beginning to veer off course, otfw. We just gotta live with it.
I love this place here.
Off the soap box, and, oh drat, lost my two cents.
