F-84F ID

Gents,

Stumbled upon an F-84F at the Springfield Missouri Muni today. The machine has been recently painted and a brief internet search showed that not long ago it was taken apart and at least partially cleaned up. Will post some pics soon.

From what I could see she has no remaining ID, I have checked all of my files and can not find what machine she could be. Any clues?

One sure fire way is to open the canopy and look on the right-back wall next the the ejection seat. Should see something like this:

Are you saying she is former MX trainer 51-9345? Do you know more of her story?

As for opening up the canopy, I considered that but being arrested for vandalism really did not seem like a good way to finish out the week and the AF frowns on that these days!

Gary, are you sure you were in Missouri?

Just asking because there is a 'Streak at Springfield Municipal in Ohio too, but you probably already knew that.

Na, no idea which one that one is. Just saying where to find the serial plate on F-84Fs. That was a photo snapped from mine. Springfield is pretty close to my location. Might be interesting to visit that one.

If I am not mistaken, this is the same F-84 that used to sit outside of a tech school on an airfield on US-50 in Warrensburg.(sp?)

Last time I was there (2006) the airplane was being disassembled for -reportedly- transportation by members of the CAF, to the Springfield Municipal.

There should be some photos posted here in the past.

That might indeed be the one that was at Warrensburg, Missouri - the airport is just west of town on the north side of Hwy 50. A Google Earth look shows it is gone. I had last seen it about 6-7 years ago in SEA camo scheme. The new paint going on looks to be the start of a 131st TFW/110th TFS MOANG scheme. I'll post a few pics of the real thing when I get home tonight.

Nice to see it being saved and taken better care of than it was at Warrensburg.

I am thinking Warrensburg is the correct answer too, now to find the ID of that bird! The pictures of the machine on arrival at the downtown airport show her in pieces and in SEA camo.
