I het few images of captured Japanese airplanes in the US markings. Did any of you have more info about the place and time where they are photographed?

Probable most, if not, belonged to the former Technical Air Intelligence Center at NAS Anacostia. The last pic of of a ki-46-II "Dinah" in their markings. Other pics at:

Lots of other refs to this organization on the Net

Top one looks like the Akutan Zero, which was captuerd intact in the Aleutians, and recovered along with the pilot, where it had flipped while landing in swampy tundra. That plane was the first intact Zero brought to the US, and it was extensively flight tested. It met its end in a terrible way- chewed through by another taildragger in 1944 on a taxiway.

Aloha All,
The distance between the cowl flaps and the leading edge of the wing on the Zero 21 (Aleutian crash) is nearly a foot...while the (Buna, NG capture) Zero 32 -depicted- has almost NO separation... also note the short squared wing tips of the Zero 32.
Cheers,
David
