Can you get piano wire in that diameter in the length that you need?

...and put a fairly sharp point on the insertion end, use a fairly high speed air drill motor and spin those babies into place-

A little lube might help as well.

WHAT!?! and miss the really cool sounds of bare steel being spun against aluminum? Guaranteed to make your fillings dance with joy-and I assumed you were a sporty type of guy.
Sorry, I made an assumption that lube would be used, silly me? A little anti sieze dabbed on the ends helps too to limit the rusting of the pin material-it's messy to the max, lots of paper and green 3M tape(that smells like cat pee)-don't forget to leave enough pin material to extract them for the next guy!

Stainless steel welding rod works real well. It comes in many different diameters and.....is weldable

to make it longer

Aircraft Spruce part#03-49000
just use 2 pieces, one from each end

Thanks guys, have cosidered two pieces, one from each end but would prefer one length, welding is not the answer as the pins we have are a snug fit & the next size down is too loose,if you shear the pin half way into the hinge you would destroy the extrusion removing it,will keep looking but appreciate the responses,Pete
