Hell Hawks Production?

Tue Nov 25, 2008 8:21 am

I have heard that the new book Hell Hawks about the 9th Air Force P-47 units in Europe is being discussed as the source of a new mini series in the vein of Band of Brothers. That would be really cool.

I think that would be a great idea! The book is very well written, and there are more than enough 'personal stories' to choose from to build a film or series around. I hope they do it. 8)

Along those lines, I remember "A Fighter Pilot's Story" being shown on PBS a long time ago. Not a famous pilot, but just a typical fighter pilot doing his job. There was a lot of that - non-famous pilots who did good work - in the 9th Air Force, and it's about dang time we hear more about those guys.

I'd love to get a DVD of "A Fighter Pilot's Story", but I may have missed the boat -

The pilot whose story was on that PBS show was also in Ken Burns WWII documentary last year. It seems I read that the Fighter Pilot's story was still available at that time.

The pilot you are referring to is Quentin Aanenson, 391st FG, a hell of a nice guy.

Cheers,

391st FS - 366th FG.

They fly Strike Eagles now ... Mr. Aanenson got a ride in one shortly after his documentary was shown.
