It's great seeing a Hurricane being restored. It appears to be coming along quite well.
They are such an awkwardly elegant airplane. I like'm!
Cheers,
David

Yup had seen them before, but it has been some time, and they've added some pics, so thanks for the reminder. Hurricane always fascinates me with their blend of old and new construction techniques! They were "on the bleeding edge" of things!

I have a bunch of pics of the Lone Star bird being restored a number of years ago....posted 'em here for a few days....got me a call from Ray Middleton telling me to take them off, which I did....but we never did settle our differences over his shop's photo policies.....
Ah well..

Thats the beauty of the Hurricane - all systems and gear are in the centre section and the outer wings only have the outer flap sections, aileron cables and nav light leads to connect, at the moment the wings are off again for painting following completion of the armament fit-out. The aircraft is being re-built by Hawker Restorations Ltd who are some miles from North Weald and do not have a strip long enough to launch her on her first flight next month - so its transport by road with final assembly being undertaken in around two days at Hanger 11. After that its down to the the CAA to isue a permit to test!
