Breckenridge, TX

I'm helping design a new commercial building in Breckenridge TX and was wondering who and what (warbirds wise) goes on in Breckenridge TX.

Does Howard Pardue reside in Breckenridge? And what Warbirds does Howard own/pilot? Just wondering.

My partner on this commercial project flew to Breckenridge yesterday and will eventually attend the Texas Tech / Oklahoma game tomorrow with Howard's two daughters. Very small world sometimes.

In Breckenridge there is Howards place and Nelson Ezell's operation. Howard (correct me if I'm wrong) has a Bearcat, Wildcat, and Sea Fury. I believe he splits his time between there and Houston. Nelson's place is always packed with warbird goodies (see the recent thread about his facilities. I believe there are 2 corsairs, a bearcat, a wildcat, P-63, etc there right now).

Not to pirate the thred but im doing a 23 hour overnight in Houston this week. Anything to see around there? I am guessing that Lone Star isnt open yet?

There is a small friendly CAF chapter at W. Houston airport in the northwest part of town if you are near Bush Int. If you are at Hobby there is a B-17 being restored there. Also some warbird, Collings jets, at Ellington near Hobby. From Hobby to Galveston is only about a 45 min drive. It is a loooonnnnggg way from Bush to or from. Lot's of good seafood, Bar-B-Q, Mex food around Hobby.

I actually trained at Flight Safety at Hobby and our ground instructor was one of the guys involved with both of the CAF units you mentioned. Ill have to give him a buzz and see how the projects are doing. Thanks

Howard also has a Staggering Beech (yes, I said Staggering ), an L-4, and a neat little museum in the hangar he has on the South side of the field. Either Steve Dickey or maybe Randy Tait would be more than willing to show you around. I think that if you like Warbirds even a little bit, you may just find yourself hanging out at the airport, rather than working on your building project.

One time that was a swerving Beech! Not long after Howard got his Staggerwing, he and longtime warbird pilot Jerry Janes, were out flying it and came back to find a strong gusty crosswind had come up making landing challenging, in any tailwheel plane, much less one you are just getting accustomed to. They came in and it needed a lot of corrections, it was all arms and elbows. Howard was working away and Jerry was backing him up with lot's of suggestions, "more rudder, more brake", and they got it down safely.
