Geneseo news

Sun Nov 16, 2008 1:56 pm

Here is a link that was posted on the HAG message board. Also some interesting and VERY exciting news. The 1941HAG museum is interested in buying the B-23 Dragon that is for sale on Courtesy Aircraft. Hopefully we will hear some details on this soon! I hope they get it! :D

Thanks,
Nathan

Well yes, technically. But she looks so much better as an F! And since we dont have as many F's around I just like calling her that i guess.

A few questions:

1) If they did buy the B-23, would they restore it back to flying condition, or just as a static display?

2) What's the latest on the A-20 restoration? Has work even started on it yet? Will she be a flyer when finished? Does HAG own title to it, or is it just on long term loan from the Tallichet estate?

Exciting news! :D

how far is Geneseo from New York? I'm staying in Ridgewood NJ at Xmas and looking to catch up with a few warbirds etc

Sun Nov 16, 2008 7:39 pm

Wow..lots of questions for me to answer! :D

First the A-20 Havoc project, no work has been done to it yet. But the HAG crew moved it to the other side of the hanger while cleaning and organizing. The A-20 is not owned by HAG. From last reports it was to be restored to flying condition. 8)

Second the B-17 at Geneseo is a "G" model. But yes it is done up to look like a "F" model. She will be staying the winter in Geneseo. HAG does not own the aircraft they are just operating it. :P

The way the B-23 looks I think it will probably be made static. But I don't really care cause if it is owned by HAG it has a good home and will get some TLC! 8)

Geneseo is about a 40 minute drive down from Rochester NY. It takes me about 3 hours to get there from Northeastern Pa. But a trip to Genny is definately worth it. Geneseo is old school and the people there are just super people! :D 8)

RIDGEWOOD JERSEY TO GENESEO NY

Sun Nov 16, 2008 7:54 pm

Oscar Duck, Geneseo is about 6 hour drive from ridgewood jersey, providing no snow. Its probably not a smart drive that time of year lake efect snow in western NY can come at any moment. Im driving from Geneseo to Somerset NJ Tuesday.

Oh man, you really need to get to Duxford. Geneseo is nice but it is so not Duxford. Your pic (Geneseo's biggest day of the year) is like an average Wednesday at Duxford.

Like greasemonkey says, it's a pretty long haul from NJ to Geneseo and in the winter, I'd be very hard pressed to justify the trip for what is there.

I'd advise against it. You see, they've got a B-17G there painted as 'Memphis Belle'!

The people at Geneseo are the absolute best. I've been going with the Great War Flying Museum to the airshow since 2004. Last year we came a few days early for the biplane rally, and as soon as we came in and shut down our engines, they came up with a cooler and handed us all an ice cold beer :D You can't get much better than that.
