The damage is not the result of neglect, said Bob Dean, 55th MXS fabrication section chief, but, it is an 80-year-old airplane that has been exposed to the elements for a long time.
Glad to see it is getting some attention.

Well, it's more than likely never been inside. Think about that from the time it was built until now.

I remember it when at POF in Chino. It was pretty rough then before going to Beale.

Not the result of neglect ? what do you call it when you leave a plane sitting outside, with no up keep ?
and a Frame Off restoration ? Since when does a B-17 have a frame ? I think the writer was a reject from a car magazine

I helped fix her up back in the 90's when stationed at Offutt.

Matt, in most of the pics I have seen of it, it has always looked pretty well upkept. I do agree with you though that the guy that wrote this is not a real airplane guy.

Regardless an F model has no business being on outside display. Give her to a good flying museum.

Heres a picture of her back in August during the Open House only shot i have since i was trying to take the picture out of a window of a moving car.
