Right shape for a 1/3 Beau. It's a LOT bigger than that.
Hefty-looking ribs without any lightening holes too.
Don't know the advert - is it definitely a real a/c?

Could be a generic training airframe to teach sheet metal. Most if not all companies had these schools where they took gals and guys and turned them into sheeties in 2 months or so and then put them on the line.

What commercial? Doesn't look like factory attire to me, but I'm no sartorial expert.

It's in the Barak Obama commercial (Pick me for President), says his Grandmother built a/c during the war.
I don't believe the pic is actually her, just an example pic.
I can't identify what it is. Maybe it is just an instructional piece?

Mike

Looks kind of complicated for an instructional piece. When I was in A&P school we riveted on smaller pieces rather than entire airframes (takes up too much space and what do you do with them when you are done?). The corrugated "floor panel" is kind of odd too.

could it be an upside down tail boom off of a 38?

If it was in the commerical, I'd guess it must be a Mig or Yak.
