Super Rabbit Update

Thu Oct 09, 2008 3:34 pm

The sale of the Rabbit was completed this week. The B-25 has been moved from the EVG Museum and is at the McMinnville airport. The a/c has been depreserved and has had it's 2600s run up with no problems. Jeff and Wayne will ferry her to Aurora Friday for some further work. CAF B-25 pilot Tim Jackson will fly her down to Chino when she's ready. Althought it was planned to fly her to OZ, my understanding is that she will ride has deck cargo on a freighter.
Steve Searle has a webpage up for his new Wirraway Aviation Museum and looks to it's gonna be a cool if not a tad far away.

A little sad seeing her go. One of the nicest looking 25's on the circuit! (oops, now I'm in trouble!!) Hopefully, the sale will open up funds for a new, exciting project. Hopefully, the new owners will treat her well and have good luck with her. Vintage Warbirds are expensive toys to play with.

I'm a little out of the loop on this. Why didn't it stay at Evergreen and does Evergreen have a B-25 on display?

????

Why didn't it stay at Evergreen

It was only on loan and they look very poor care of it.
Evergreen have a B-25 on display?

Can you elaborate? I always though Evergreen was a pretty "high-speed" operation...

Well for starters they ran a cart full of tables into it and punched a hole in the right nacele and never fixed it. Other than that they parked it out back in the rain for months :x
I can tell you all kind over museum horror stories :!:

Kinda like how lovable Ol Del runs his box hauling outfit?, His junk is just barely better than Kalittas portable scrap yards-
The nicest thing I ever heard about that guy started out with 'that dirty, rotten, low down scumbag Del Smith....'

Yes, but what do you know about Del personally?? Always a plus if you're gonna trash talk someone  Mike was a friend of mine and Del's always been good to me. But, that has nothing to do with the museum itself.

Jack I feel for ya man. I guess seeing The Rabbit leave is like saying goodbye to an old friend. Hopefully she will be in good hands downunder.

No Jack, I've met him once or twice, that comment came from someone to another someone who are his contemporaries-

inspector,

Is it really necessary to make comments like that?

I try to avoid getting into these personal scrapes but this sure is way out of line in my opinion. I felt the same about your comments about the Tischlers too.

Once again; is this really necessary?

I couldn't go because of work but talked to Wayne has he was strapping in for the flight to Aurora. Should take 10 minutes on a very restrictive ferry permit.
I'll post some photos of her tonight.
