Hill AFB Museum visit

I finally got into the neighborhood (Central Southern Idaho) the last two weeks so mr widgeon and I went to Hill last Saturday-
Fantastic place!!!! four stars! Altho a bit crowded and dark corners here and there.
Double happiness as it was A) open cockpit day and B) a hot rod show, got some great pictures including two 64 Ford THUNDERBOLT drag cars parked in front of the museums P-47 out in the sun a real pile of beautiful jugs and everyone of them are all business too!
I spoke briefly with some of the folks there about my idea to pipe in the sounds of riveting and drilling and chit-chat on the B-24, the folks I spoke with thought it was a great idea and one of them said that running the sounds of the checklist callouts might work in 'SHORT BIER" too

I know they've got the "B-24" set up in a sort of assembly line diorama. Do they have Rosie the Riveter mannequins working on it? That'd go great with the sound effects.

They do have two figures dressed as WW2 assemblers crouching in front oF #3 engine on a wide, two ladder platform-

Inspector did you get a look at the B-26 Marauder restoration? If so any thoughts, pictures or impressions of how it goes?

The B-26 was well off to one side down along a fence (fwd fuselage) and the place was just crawling with people as we were leaving (they close @ 1630 and LOCK THE GATES @ that time so if you ain't in the car and rolling, you get to become a guest of the DoD.) and, I'm sorry but I already have serious issuees with the ICE stopping people along the roads in Northwestern Washington to ask 'where are you going? are you a citizen of the U.S.'- 'let me see bozo, this IS the U.S.of A. and since I'm still inside the USA and 45 miles past any sort of ferry terminal, it's gonna be pretty much n.o.y.f.b.'

Agreed but let me add you aint' seen nothing yet new precedents are being set practically daily.
Back to the 26 sounds like not much happening. I wonder why so low key?
After all not just every tom dick and harry has a Martin B-26.

I'm just content that they have it and it's not sitting in some scrappers yard or on the vertical side of some serious mountain, when they get to it, it will be done in a very spectacular way and will represent the crews who flew it with pride-patience is a virtue

How many B-26 pieces-parts do they actually have? Enough to put together a complete airframe?

I had no idea they had a B-29, nor that there were that many aircraft on site.
What is the story on the tail paint on the B-17?

Impressive museum! Nice to see an museum at an air force base with the resources to display such a large portion of their collection indoors. Hopefully they can get the B-29 and Globemaster under a roof someday too.

Hopefully they can get the entire collection under one roof one day! Though i applaud what they have done i still think the WWII aircraft look ok. Not amazing but ok. Especially the B-24 and P-40. Even though these have a large majority of replicated parts i think they could look a little more real.
