Reno ops loses a long time supporter

Fri Sep 19, 2008 12:03 pm

From behind the scenes, Steve Forsen (BIG Steve) passed away today after collapsing at the races. He was a long time air race fan, ramp operations guy, Lefty Gardner crew member and some of you may have known him.

Steve was not in the best of shape and had a couple of issues heart and diabetes related.

He collapsed right after I had talked with him and he was jovial and happy to be at Reno once again so I guess there are worse ways to go. I don't know if it was a stroke or a heart issue ....... a big guy with a big blue ram truck and a big smile most of the time. Blue skies Steve.............

Sorry to hear this. He reminds me of Jim and Katie Ford, two wonderful old folks who loved the Thunderbirds. They used to bring their camper to all the shows. They're both gone now unfortunately but live on both as honorary members of the Thunderbirds and the same with the International Fighter Pilots Fellowship.
