Is it just me or did they look GREAT back then too!
Did the CAF get the now Texas Raiders in 1967 ? Did they have Ol 927 at the same time ?
Thanks for the Photos

Think that was at Sugarland's Hull Airport. Dr. Col Don Hull was a big CAFer. The Bearcat and Mustang were owned and flown by Bill and Corky Fornoff.
The Ryan was a local fixture, it was being flown by a couple of Cols much later when they rolled it low and stalled it into the ground. They were at a flyin at Covey Trails. They ended up in the big commercial nursery that is next to the airfield.

Glen, the CAF purchased Texas Raiders in September of '67, and the B-24 was acquired sometime the same year.
Great photos, jotomp. More pictures that would look good in the "CAF History In Photos" book that I think should be compiled. Thanks for scanning and posting them!

Again neat stuff brought out of the shoebox for all to share in-Thanks so much for sharing with the group-
Is that the 'Save a Connie' in some of the pix? And who's DC-6?

Rick H visited the Hangar this weekend and said N7227C (TEXAS RAIDERS) was 6 degrees out of trim with that cargo door cut in her side.
I don't think these were at Hull Field (Sugarland) because there is TOO MUCH undulation in the topography!

Not the Save A Connie a/c (N6837C). That one was still working for Airlift Intl. at the time. This is ex- TWA L-749A N6021C while being used by Discover America Corp., a travel club out of Houston. Later cought on a drug run (36000 lbs of dope) it was sold to the Dominican Republic where it did sterling service as a freighter until dbr on the ground. Later scrapped.
