The Great WIX black out of 2008

Well, that was special. I have been in Atlanta, GA since Thursday and have been out of internet connection till now. First I want to thank Ryan Keough, associate editor extraordinaire for his tireless efforts to restore the site when I could not do it. So the fact that it is back is due entirely from his efforts. So all those people that called and e-mailed him send him a thank you!

Also, as you probably realized, you were not banned. The problem resulted from our hosting services descision to shut down the ENTIRE site due to server congestion. This was done without warning or notification. It took numerous e-mails and phone calls, mainly by Ryan, to get this rectified.

When I get back home on Wednesday I will be looking at finding a dedicated server setup so we can avoid this problem. Unfortunately this will end up multiplying the hosting costs by about 5 times, which is why I have refrained from doing so before. There is a link at the top of the page "Help support the WIX", consider signing up for the subscription program, the basic subscription is $2 a month, about the cost of a magazine subscription. Think about how much time you spend here and consider helping us continue to bring this forum and the rest of the site too you.

P.S. Those people who sent those nasty, profane e-mails need to calm down. You weren't banned, but your actions have put you on watch. I don't appreciate the comments to me, but especially to my people who do this on a purely volunteer basis. No one gets paid, and we don't deserve the level of nastiness that we recieved. I still might ban you but right now I'm just glad the site is back. So I probably won't, but those of you who wsent those e-mails, and you know who you are.... strike one.
