A Piper Cub and a nice morning...

Had a fun time this morning flying the ALS Cub - trying to stay somewhat tailwheel proficient as our airshow season approaches (That's fall/winter here in TX). Thought I'd share a few pictures. Who'd think that Texas could be so green in the middle of August. All it takes is a few good rains.


Our Cub is a 1939 model.


Could use some fresh paint, but the fabric's still ok.




Doing 70mph, windows and door open, cool breeze, nicest place in Texas.




Stick, rudder, and a basic six. Simple, fun flying at it's best.


The scenery was spectacular today.

It's a wonderful little bird. When I was a young pilot many moons ago, I took a J3 and flew it all the way down the Eastern Coast of the United States just hopping from airport to airport along the way. Ended up at Key West. It was a wonderful trip, most of it low and slow off the beaches with the top window wide open.
Several times I throttled back and actually exchanged greetings with people in boats under me as I went by.

Those were wonderful days!
