I was out there and will be out again today. I will be posting photos soon as well, including a very scary stack fire that was too close for my comfort. The Tigercat was spinning the right engine for a long time and I was starting to wonder how long it was going to turn. When it finally caught, the fireball that came out was big, and lit all the fuel that had come out prior to start. I have seen a lot of stack fires over the years and most are pretty harmless, but this one too close for my comfort.

Thanks Chuck, that is a good one. Best I ever seen was when a backfire blew a intake loose on the Rose and started a fire

Jeeze, those muppets at "fencecheck" really don't have a clue do they?. I bet Clay will be thrilled to discover that not only does he now own Joes F7F, but he also owns a couple of POF's Chino birds....

Doh! And that's why we actually move the halon bottle into position before the motor cranks.

Yep...one bottle for the whole ramp...sounds typical. Sure hope she wore her track shoes!

No one in that thread said the F7F was Clay's. I was told by the EAA that the P-40 and the Corsair coming out were from Clay's collection. I discovered when I got there that it was actually the POF P-40, and the Corsair, from wherever never showed up.

There wasn't a fire bottle at the F7F when it started. The fire spotter, Sherry, was actually fire spotting for the F8F that was next to the Tigercat. She spotted the fire and ran over, but it was about out when she arrived. They should have had more fire bottles on hand.

So someone made a mistake. I happen to know that photographer personally and calling him a "clueless muppet" is ridiculous.
