Olympic museum pics

Thu Aug 07, 2008 10:08 pm

I may have screwed up by putting the Tillamook pics in same thread as the Evergreen pics. If you didn't see the Tilly pics, go to the More Oregon and Washington museum pics thread. Anyway, this was the first time I had been to Olympic and I was very impressed. Brian Reynolds and the staff there do a terrific job. WIXer Brad Pilgrim contributes to their newsletter.

The T-28 came from the batch we imported back in from Mexico. You think it looks neat now , if you would have seen how it looked before..............they really did a good job.

Good to know Ober. If a plane is too corroded or just not feasible to restore, I like the idea of making it a traveling display so you can take it to schools or public events to give people a chance to see it up close or sit in it.

It was the most complete of the four , but totaly corroded beyond help and thats the one they wanted as the display was what they planned from the begining.

WOW! A W-3420 ALLISON still configured for the XB-39. Last time I saw one was over 40 years ago and it had been run in Edgar Kaisers unlimited the U-10 SCOOTER TOO, so it had the boatracing WESTERN gearbox on it. that is one huge pile of cylinders and crankcase-That looks like a motorcycle ride from Everett
