Hellcat Registry

I've just updated the F6F Hellcat registry to my most current info and pics. I need info on the following:

43014, 08825, 79669 (need pic), 79683, 79863, 94385 (need pic), and I need to know the current status of the hellcat that is/was on the U.S.S. Intrepid museum

Also, I need a pictures for 41476.

Hi Scott,
There was a replica Hellcat on Intrepid, but it has since been transfered elsewhere, as it was not in keeping with the current administration (same with the Helldiver replica). The Helldiver replica ended up going to a recreational diving facility in Pennsylvania. The Hellcat went to a University, if I recall correctly. Can't remember which one at present, but I wrote an article on it for Aircraft Illustrated several years back... have to dig it up.

Hi Scott, I dont believe there has been any change in the status of either 43014 at the Fantasy of Flight or to 79683 at the Air Zoo. I can tell you that 79863 is now on display at the Flying Heritage Collection's new museum in Everett,Washington www.flyingheritage.com

Richard - The Intrepid Hellcat replica went to Thomarios of Akron as part payment for cleaning and painting work they did on some of the Intrepid aircraft. I heard the plan was to put the Hellcat on display outside the Gas Turbine Testing Facility at University of Akron, but it wasn't there last week when I drove by.

I was talking woth a friend of mine that does some flying for the Fighter Factory. My queston was if they are still in a growth mode or already have all of the projects they can say grace over, so to speak.
He said, "Well, they would love to do a Hellcat."
Since they tend to find and rebuild, are there any more Hellcats out there in the "boonies" left to be found and brought back into flyable condition?

I thought there was supposed to be one in Lake Michigan.

one? There were at least 140 WWII aircraft that went into that lake.. I'd say chances are theres more than a few..

There was a group of wreckage recovered out of China Lake and in civilian hands. Photos were posted on the WIX 4 or 5 years ago.

I think most of the fighters in Lake Michigan are of the F4F/FM2 variety, but I thought somebody documented a single F6F-3.

Hi Scott,
Rob passed these bits and pieces on. I don't know what other info he has on these birds, but there is enough parts to build a flyer and maybe two statics , but the location is not for posting at this time

Bill Compton recovered a truck load of F6 stuff from the range, the other photos are F4F it looks kind of familiar
