Found this data plate at an old WW2 scrapping field recently (along with a carboot full of Spitfire, Kittyhawk and Boomerang stuff). I am of the opinion its spitfire....but thats where my knowledge ends on that subject. Does anyone here care to decipher it or even possibility pin it down to a specific serial number
Thanks guys and gals
Cheers from downunder too!!

...and signed off by Supermarine (6S) inspector number 235.
Frustratingly on occasions, it is not possible to ID a Spitfire with an RAF serial from any of its component data plates, as this one.
On very rare occasions I have seen it written in pencil on the reverse of the plate.
