Actually, its been to exactly ONE airshow in Ft. Worth TX in I think 1965 or 1966......... Someone had posted some pics here about it.
Joe Walker that ran into it came from the same area I'm from (Washington PA) and went to the same college as me......... A mechanic who worked with my father back at Mohawk Airlines had previously worked at North American building #2. Small world....

That is one of the most awesome aircraft this country ever produced! 
Yea I would have loved to have seen one fly. Throw in a B58 Hustler, & that would be a he11va show!

I will never see a B-58 and XB-70 fly. But yes it would be cool to see both at an airshow. Ok, it would not be cool but AWESOME!

Not scorched, peeled. They never fully got it figured out on the XB-70, but the paint was applied too heavily on AV-1 when it rolled out and that was the result of the first supersonic flight. Back then the ability to precision apply thin paints and paint technology for such large structures wasn't well developed in addition to the fact that this aircraft was using an aluminum honeycomb structure that was untested as well.
They worked out most of the problems by the end of the program and most figured that the in service aircraft wouldn't have any problems.
