The last flight of a C-133 Cargomaster

Wow, that's a pretty short window for raising the money for the fuel to bring it to Califonia.

Please keep us posted on the progress with this and let us know when there is a pretty definite date for the flight and the arrival in California.

Sorry to hear the C-133 will fly no more, but I can understand it with the complexity and costs associated with this airplane.

awww crap! Sad to hear she will fly no more soon. It was always nice knowing a C-133 was still being operated. My favorite cargo plane of all time very sad....but glad she is going to a good home that will hopefully take care of her. Glad to hear the other hulks will be saved.

While it was definitely a "Cold War Veteran," it was probably more than just that, as I believe it flew cargo into South Vietnam during the mid to late sixties and possibly into the early seventies. Maybe someone else can verify this.

A very good home for it.
I hope the powers that be would let a C-133-C-17 Heritage Flight happen before the Cargomaster is silenced forever.

You are correct. The NMUSAF C-133 flew cargo well into Vietnam Era.

I allways thought it was non-flyable. Man am i glad i was wrong. I am really glad to hear that it will fly one more time. What an awesome machine. It allways stuck me as a

I didn't take it that way either.

I know this probably cannot happen, but wouldn't it be great (before leaving Alaska) if they could paint it in colors like it had in the 1959 - 1962 era (silver with white top, orange day-glo and MATS markings). Wouldn't that be a sight flying into Travis AFB!

(I know they may possibly be thinking about finishing it in colors like that after the final flight and before its museum display...)
