I don't think they are black. Maybe stock and not polished. Princess was like that as well as 1 on Bald Eagle.

I worked on it several years ago, in Cape Girardeau, MO. Mike Burke was flying it for Mark Clark, who had just sold it to a "collector" in England. Mike had a mag go bad on him enroute, so he landed in Cape. They called me to come help 'em out, and with Mike and I working together, along with Mike George supplying parts, we got it going in a day or two. So, to my knowledge (and fading memory), it made the trip to the East Coast, where it was supposedly shipped over to Merry Ol' England.

I was told that that airplane was indeed THE Mary Mine and was more or less one of the few true P-51 vets out there. Don't flame me for that if I'm wrong, I'm just going by what I was told. But please, correct me if the facts aren't right.

I thought she was at Greenham Common in the UK - believed to be owned by Dave Arnold (son of Doug).

She is indeed the only surviving original 361st FG machine from WW2 - it was delivered to the group in mid-1944 & was assigned to the 376th FS & became the aircraft of Lt. George R. Vanden Heuvel. He named it 'Mary Mine' and claimed 9 'kills.'

Anymore information on its whereabouts much appreciated.
