Goshen/Battle Creek Air Shows

Sun Jul 06, 2008 8:37 am

Don't mean to dredge up any strange memories for Eric (all the ladies with hats swarming to your Skyraider last year  ) but are any of you WIXers there in Indiana or Michigan attending either of these shows this weekend? And if so, got any pix to share? Spoke to a buddy of mine yesterday and he said that the Starfighters were at Goshen??? Will Ward (?) had a Mig-21 at Goshen as well?

My apologies ahead of time if I am posting this in the wrong area. Could not find anything in the WIX gatherings and had not seen any mention of either show anywhere.

IIRC, the larger/faster aircraft that cannot land at Goshen, usually fly down from the Battle Creek show for flyovers? What I do have the best memories of is just how much fun it was to go to Goshen...the folksy attitude as well as some great planes showed up there from time to time. Always family friendly.

I flew there and saw Tim Savage. The Starfighters were unbelievable!! Will Ward flew the Mig 17. Great show!!

I j ust got back from battle Creek. Starfighters were cool. The L-39 gang was there as well. They were awesome. There was also a P-51, and a T-28. It was amazing to see the F-104 fly.

I was at the Battle Creek show today (it's within walking distance of the house.) The T-birds were great as always, but the Starfighters were definately the high point of the show for me..those things have a really unique sound.

I managed to get a spot right off the end of the runway on Friday..got a couple of great shots until the cops chased everybody out.

An interesting nautical twist on the Heritage Flight...

Here's the Air Force Heritage Flight, with "Snort" Snodgrass in the P-51..and one of Snort doing what he does best (he seemed a bit high to me, but it looks like he had somebody in the back seat.) 8)

Nice shots Steve! Happen to get any of a T-33 routine? 8)

I didn't see a T-33 at the show. Are you talking about the L-39s?

Scott,

I was only at the Goshen show with the T-33, not Battle Creek.

Thanx for the pix Steve.

Any pix from Goshen Paul? Any ladies with bonnets on attracted to your T-33??? (Last year, the ladies with bonnets were very attracted to Eric's Skyraider)

Steve, had I known you were there, I would have looked you up pal.

No bonnet pics. Can't figure their fascination with a Skyraider...maybe it's the big windmill on the front?? Very few of them would even speak a word to us.

I am surprised no one has photos of all the bonnets on the other side of the fence at Goshen. Lots of them left their 'ride' tied to the fence also.

Yeah..I didn't even think about it. We should have made plans to meet up. Our model club is putting on a show at the Air Zoo September 6...

Sweet, I will try and make it over. That would be cool.

A few more from Battle Creek.

The Yak team (can't remember the name)

A T-28 with a really unique smoke system (taken from a nearby shopping center.)

And the ever-popular jet truck. Well, I suppose the kids think it's cool.

The Yak Team name is the Aerostars.

Look like SKip Stewart flying with the jet truck!
