This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

In response to Bill's Spitfire update and request for support:
Why does it seem that so many people in the online warbird community (this site and others), have become so negative towards pilots, aircraft, events and situations? Wake up people, the warbird scene is a small niche!
If we want to see our historic aircraft community continue to operate and generate interest amongst the younger generations, we all need to work together as a team to make it happen. Times have changed and prices have escalated. It's not as simple for some private owners to operate these aircraft as it was in the 70's.
When you log in to read about a subject that we all love, and all you see is a bunch of whiny, negative smart asses, bitching about stuff that they themselves for the most part could never support on their own, it makes you want to say "do you kiss your mother with that mouth? this" and move on to something more positive.
Some of you people need to go out, have some drinks, get laid, then come back when you feel positive and ready to support our love for historic aircraft!

I agree with you gooseandsoda most of the time. Every once in while though, issues arise that chap peoples a**es. Things do get heated at times such as the A-25 issue but I think it happens because as you noted, people really do care and love these planes and want to see that they are taken care of in the best possible manner. We all have different opinions and levels of commitment and partication within the warbird community. Personally, if someone is paying the bills to support and maintain a warbird, Eric Downing or Bill Greenwood for example, I think they should have a little more say so than most but that's MY opinion. I work for Nazy Hirani and take care of five of his planes and I will make all the suggestions based on what I think is best but ultimately, it's his show and I respect that. I think everyone here genuinely respects each other %99 of the time and we can allow others to voice their differences and move on. If a particular thread gets too hot, then either Scott can end it or do like I do and just don't open it.

I was with you until this part. Be careful of what and how you say things you might get 86'd. I dont think your message is very positive.

We already get a major high from WIX. The latter is not needed.

Energy is Energy! If you've got the right kind of engine it all burns the same. Think about it.

Thanks for the feedback... the message isn't aimed at everyone and is just a play on words to drive the point home. Growing up in the 80's, we're not real PC when it come to a subject that means so much. Sorry if it came off the wrong way. Can we buy you a round? LOL!

"Always with the negative waves Moriarty, always with the negative waves."

Now that is funny.

Since this somewhat appears to be directed at me, what have I said that makes you think that I am being negative?
If anything your post is not filled with much cheer either.
If online warbird sites are such a bastion of negativity, one would have to wonder why they seem to be so popular!

GOOSEANDSODA,
I don't know how long you may have lurked (gads I hate that term, sounds like something the kid down the street does)before joining, but please get a total feel for what's really happening on this forum before pushing out a head gasket.
If you notice, while we all may get edgy and snotty and sarcastic, deep down we pretty much respect each others gray hairs and silver backs and opinions and inputs from younger individuals is always a breath of fresh air. Some times the invectives fly and attitudes are copped and the occasional nose gets out of joint, but it's all pretty much a transitory issue and we all make up until the next YAYHOO opens his pie......never mind-
So, please have a seat in the observers position until you get the total feel for us, we all fight like cats and dogs, (or worse, like brothers) but every one of us would come running to help if one of us was getting hammered by someone outside this forum and we have in the past.
MUSTANGDRIVER,
Who was singing that? Little F'in Annie or Big Daddy Whorebux?
BDK,
I've never disagreed with any point you have brought up or responded, with great candor and level headedness to.

Hey everyone,
We did appologize by offering to buy a few rounds.... if we didn't get your humor, then you obviously didn't get ours. So we'll give it another shot... if you are all saying that the perceived negativity is just the community and how they intereact, then understand our post has an element of humor to it as well.
It may come off harsh, but if we were in a bar discussing this subject, there would be plenty of laughs! Are we good now? LOL!
